Third Graders DIG into Ag

During first semester, Eastwood Third Graders had the opportunity to learn more about our agriculture community through a program called Ag Education on the Move. This program was developed by Missouri Farmers Care.

Third graders participated in 10 weeks of lessons about crops, livestock, soil and water conservation, and agriculture careers. These lessons gave students insights about today's agriculture and farm families.

Sydnee Mason, Marshall FFA member and president, met with Eastwood Teachers to plan and prepare lessons for Third Graders.  Her lessons included key classroom objectives and state standardas primarily in the areas of science, math, reading and writing.

Miss Sydnee  (as the students called her) taught Eastwood third graders about planting seeds, experimenting with yeast and bread making, creating plastic corn, rock-n-roll ice cream and other hands on activities and experiments during the 10 week course.Students learned many facts about crops and where their food comes from.  They have developed a better understanding of agriculture and our farming community.

Sydnee Mason has received additional recognition for her work as a member of Marshall FFA and as a teacher for Ag Education on the Move.

Eastwood Third Grade Teachers and students would like to THANK Miss Sydnee for coming and teaching the students about agriculture in our community.
