Elegibility:

Students must complete a screening and score under the 50th percentile on that screening.

Age:

3-5 years old (3 yrs. old by Aug. 1, 2006)

Cost:

If a child is eligible there is no cost to the parents.

Goal:

Our program is designed to provide students with opportunities to grow socially and develop language and other skills needed to assist them in being prepared for kindergarten.

Class Schedule: Title 1 Preschool classes meet five days a week for three hours. Morning session runs from 8am-11am. Afternoon session runs from 12pm-3pm.

Early Childhood Special Education Preschool
We currently have 2 teachers teaching Early Childhood Special Education Preschool. We have 1 Itinerant Special Education Teacher who travels for us.

Eligibility:

A child who is between the age of 3 and 5 years old and has been identified as having developmental delays through a diagnostic evaluation might qualify for this program.

Cost:

There is no cost

Goal:

The goal of this program is to minimize development delays through instruction that has been individualized to meet the specific needs of each child.

Speech / Language Therapy
We currently have 1 Speech/Language Pathologist at our building 3 days a week.

Eligiblity:

A child between the ages of 3 and 5 who is diagnosed with a delay in any of the following areas may receive services:

  • delay in development of speech sounds
  • delay in language development
  • stuttering
  • hearing impaired
  • voice disorders

Cost:

There is no cost.

Goal:

Children during the preschool years are laying a foundation for a lifetime of communication. Our goal is to equip children to be the best communicators possible.

Early Childhood Screenings

Children ages 3 to 5 who reside in the Marshall Public School District are invited to participate in free preschool screenings that are scheduled throughout the school year. Children will be screened in the following areas:

  • Speech and Language
  • Motor Skills
  • Concept Development
  • Personal/Social Skills
  • Vision and Hearing
  • Health and Physical

A team of trained individuals and child development specialist will conduct the screening and visit with parents about the results. Suggestions and ideas will be offered as to how the parent can assist their child's development.

Eligibility for preschool services offered by Marshall Public Schools are determined through the Early Childhood Screenings. To find out if your child can qualify for our services, please schedule an appointment at our next screening.

The Early Childhood Staff cooperatively works with Parents As Teachers and Headstart to screen all eligible children. This gives us the opportunity as three different educational providers to collaborate to ensure all students are recognized and receive the correct educational opportunities.

Our next Screening will be held May 16-18, 2007.
