SALINE COUNTY CAREER CENTER STUDENTS COMPETE IN STATE SKILLS USA CONTESTS

Twenty Three (23) SCCC students and advisors participated in the Missouri SkillsUSA Leadership and Skills Conference, attended by more than 2,200 students, teachers, representatives of business, industry, education, and government. During their stay, students participate as voting delegates for their chapters, elect state officers, conduct business of the organization, meet with business and industry representatives, and hear from officials. The competition was held on the campus of Linn State Technical College in Linn, Missouri from March 29 – 31, 2012. Saline County Career Center students competed in Auto Service Technology, Basic Health Care Skills, Commercial Baking Technical Information, Computer Maintenance Technology, Culinary Arts Technical Information, Food and Beverage Service & Technical Information , Nurse Assisting Technical Information, Related Technical Math, SkillsUSA Quiz Bowl, Technical Spelling, and Web Design. All students did quite well in their respective competitions, and SPECIAL CONGRATULATIONS go to KOURTNEY BROCKMAN for her BRONZE MEDAL in Food and Beverage Service. SkillsUSA is a national organization serving trade, industrial, technical, and health occupations students in public high schools, career and technical centers, and two year colleges. SkillsUSA has more than 250,000 student and professional members annually, organized into more than 13,000 chapters in 50 states and 3 territorial associations (Puerto Rico, Guam, and the Virgin Islands).
