Introduction

School food......tired of packing your lunch because you don't like what is on the school menu? Here is your chance to make informed recommendations for our cooks.

Task

The School Board is looking to hire a company to provide balanced nutritional meals that kids will want to eat. Your company has been asked to present a proposal that will convince the School Board to hire your company. The School Board has requested that your company provide a seven day meal plan that meets the nutritional requirements for breakfast and lunch for upper elementary students. In addition, they are requesting a suggested afternoon nutritional snack and dinner plan for busy parents.

Process

Day 1: Meet Home Groups -- Choose Expert Groups -- Begin Research

Day 2 : Finish Expert Research

  • At the conclusion of today's time you will meet with the other members of your expert group to share your information and ideas. Remember that you are the only expert who is returning to your Home Group with the information about the food group that you researched.

Day 3: Return to Home Groups -- Presentation Rough Draft

  • Using Word or PowerPoint, make design plans for your presentation.
  • Remember that each expert member is responsible for their part of each menu.
  • Create and include a company name.
  • Add the names of your group members as directors.
  • Save! Save! Save!
  • Menu plans should be for seven days.
  • Menus should not repeat.
  • Menus should include breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner.
  • Now would be a good time to review the Evaluation.

Day 4 & 5: Home Groups Proofread -- Final Copies

Day 6: Presentation Practice--Peer Evaluations

Day 7: Smile! It's presentation time!!
