This lesson was developed as part of Missouri's eMINTS Project (enhancing Missouri's Instructional Networked Teaching Strategies).

This activity is designed to teach students to work together to complete a complex task. In addition, students will get to use their technology skills to create a book page documenting the winner of the record setting/breaking event that the team creates.

Learners
This lesson was designed for fifth graders, but could be adapted for other grade levels.

Sample Activities- These are just some suggestions in case students need some suggestions to get them started thinking.

1. Using tongs, how long will it take you to stack a set of ten cups into a pyramid?
2. How many gummi worms can you rescue from a container of water using a pair of tweezers in one minute?
3. How many jumps can you do with a jump rope in one minute?
4. Use one hand to place marshmallows in the other hand and see how many you can place and balance in one minute?
5. Take in one breath of air and see how far you can blow a cotton ball when exhaling one time.
6. Using a sponge how much water can you transfer from one bucket to another in 2 minutes when the buckets are five feet apart?
7. Using a drinking straw, how quickly can you blow a cotton ball from a starting point on a table to a finish point on a table.
8. Using chopsticks, how many Smarties candies can you transfer from a table to a cup in two minutes?
