In December 2007 Mrs. Simpson's Intro to Physics and Chemistry students took part in a roller coaster building project. We discussed the physical applications to roller coasters, watched some videos that explained the physical laws behind roller coaster features, and preformed some labs that helped us understand what track shapes and angles would give us optimim energy. Our coasters had to get through at least one loop-the-loop, one curve, and two hills. Here are some cool examples of what students came up with...
