Hello All You Snowy Owls!

I know you have been swamped with questions and what-ifs from students and the community.  We all want to know immediately what is going to happen, but Mother Nature has not let me know yet.  I'm sending you this message and letting you decide if you would like to share the information the central office is providing.  Although it is not wise to be overly dramatic, it is also not wise to go unprepared.
If we get the huge snowfall that is predicted, we will transition to 1/2 day AMI (remote learning) on Wednesday morning and a full day of AMI (remote learning) on Thursday.  If implemented, that will use all the AMI hours we have left so if we miss Friday, that will be counted as a traditional snow day.  It will not be made up since we have a sufficient number of days built into the calendar for this type of event.  We are not going to plan for the possible school closure beyond Friday at this time.
Also to be considered is the loss of power, if there is heavy snow.  In that instance, AMI is canceled and the day will be a traditional snow day.  Again, that day will not be made up.
Please send everything needed to transition to remote learning with students today.  This includes ChromeBooks and/or packets.   SPS students will not take ChromeBooks home.  I will follow this up soon with information on making up days, if that is necessary.  Let me know if you have other questions that I may not be able to answer!   Thanks and take care!! Carol
