2020 SCCC Practical Nursing Program Students

The Saline County Career is celebrating its fifty-first year of providing career and technical education. Opening in 1968, SCCC has grown significantly over the years to meet the ever-changing needs of students, surrounding businesses, and communities.

The SCCC Practical Nursing program has served the area for over fifty years, helping to meet the employment needs of area health care providers. The program is taught by Heather Vandeventer, RN, BSN; Nancy Wiseman, RN, MSN; and Julie McCammon, RN, BSN.    Successful graduates of the SCCC PN program enjoy a 100% placement rate at area health care facilities.

“Our successful PN graduates benefit from the current health care professional shortage.  SCCC provides a rigorous eleven-month program with classroom instruction, and clinical rotations at area hospitals, clinics and nursing homes.  This academic structure, with hands-on training ensures our PN graduates successful job placements,” said Heather Vandeventer, Coordinator of the SCCC PN program.

Entry into the PN program is through a competitive application process.  Currently, applications are being accepted for the 2020-2021 program year, with an April 3, 2020 deadline.

“For decardes, SCCC has been a leader in educating health care professionals from Saline County and the surrounding area.   We are proud of our history and we encourage anyone interested in pursuing a career as a nurse to inquire about our program,” said Callie Dobbins, Director of SCCC.
