HOOT Resource Center Opening

Hello Marshall Owls Family!

Please see the exciting attachment announcing an Open House to celebrate the implementation of the HOOT Resource Center! The HRC is located at what was formerly known as the Guest House on the Marshall Habilitation Center Campus. Many thanks go to the Social Work Dept. (Lindsey, Eden, and Jason; with their leader Terri Porter) for their unending dedication to families and students who need support and encouragement. This is truly an effort of which MPS can be so proud! In addition to the Open House (Tuesday, the 14th, 3 - 6 p.m.), there is an opportunity for a community-wide effort to offer meals and services. This is how the HRC Crew describe it:

There is a great need for clubs, organizations, businesses, churches, and other groups interested in providing one meal a month at the resource center, since we anticipate serving approximately 20 individuals each night. There is a stove, microwave and refrigerator on site, but limited cookware. The meal could be prepared beforehand and brought to the center or, if the right materials were available, could be prepared on site. If your organization is interested in relating directly with these students and families in need, there may be opportunities to help teach life skills, such as meal preparation or cooking on a budget, for example.

Congratulations to the HRC Crew for this outstanding work!
