Book Fair opens in 3 days!

Eastwood Kinders had an exciting STEAM day this morning learning about birds and making bird feeders! We made 2 different bird feeders in hopes of helping our bird friends out on these cold days. Students learned that birds eat seeds, nuts and worms among other things. Kinders used recycled products as well to make our feeders. We used milk cartons and turned them into feeders with a perch for the bird. For our second feeder, we used a recycled toilet paper roll, covered in peanut butter then rolled in bird seed. We even got to hang our feeders outside by our playground so we can keep an eye on the birds.

Yesterday was STEAM day at Eastwood! Kinders had an awesome time making clotheslines to hang their mittens. We read the story The Mitten and talked about how animals keep themselves warm in the winter. We learned that fat and blubber help keep them warm as well as their hair and fur. After reading the story the students were paired up and given their supplies: play doh, craft sticks, and a pipe cleaner as well as 3 pairs of mittens. They were to design a clothesline using only those supplies that coukd stand while holding their mittens. They loved the challenge and did amazing!

Kindergarten celebrates the 100th day if school!!!! On Tuesday evening the Eastwood Kinders had their 100th doy of school program to share some of their songs they've learned this year. They dressed up like they were 100 years old and had the best time singing for their families! Today was school day 100!!! We celebrated in style by making our own 100 piece snacks for the day, making torn paper 100 mosaics, painting 10 sets of 10 dots to make 100, learning to hopscotch while counting by 10's, blowing 100 bubbles, and a race to 100 game! We even got to perform our songs for the 3rd and 4th grade classes this afternoon. The Kinders had a blast celebrating their hard work this year!
