PDC Minutes September 5, 2023

Call to Order: 3:38 PM    Members in Attendance: Lindsey Blaylock, Kelly Jo Dobbins, Will Grace, Laura Jacobi, Gage Lemmon, Lindsey McMillan, Audrey Ming, Carrie Pomerenke, Lorena Reyes, Heather Sappington, Jeana Wise, and Daniel Wright

Approval of Minutes from May: Audrey Ming motioned to approve the minutes. Daniel Wright seconded. 

Reports of Officers

President:  

Admin Representative: 

  • PDC Budget

    • Travel - the number we want to work with when processing requests

    • Supply - building snacks, meals for new teacher initiation, etc. 

Old Business:

  • PDC Process

    • PDC Building Leader Responsibilities

    • If you have two building representatives, communicate with each other so that you’re not bombarding your principal with meetings. 

    • Each time you meet with your principal, let them know the budget balance. 

    • If a teacher attends an annual conference, remind them to plan ahead so we can get the paperwork done as quickly as possible. 

    • Jennifer Smith is now in charge of accounts payable for processing requests.

  • Updated Forms

    • New request forms and mileage forms

    • Should already be at each building - let Laura know if they are not

  • PDC Boards

    • Find a place to include one in your building to share PD opportunities

  • Snacks

    • Remember to look ahead so that you can plan to fill your tub before building PD meetings

    • Give Laura a heads up when you need more

    • Be sure to only use these supplies for designated PD days

  • Committees for 2023-2024

    • New members can choose any empty spot 

  • Email vote for G. Lemmon & K. Taulbee

  • Email vote for J. Reith & C. Malter

New Business:

  • August Feedback

    • Induction

      • About half of the attendees responded

      • Good feedback overall

    • Amazing Race 

      • They liked this and it was recommended to do it again. 

    • Evaluations/Results 

      • BIST was repetitive and didn’t need to be attended again if you attended last year or over the summer

      • Social Work Team did a great job and it was very informative

      • Counselors did a great job with suicide training 

      • Lots of comments that provide feedback for improving PD

      • Will review more feedback at the next PD Meeting 

  • Google Certification

    • It would be great to provide teachers with opportunities to get or update their certification

    • $10 for Google 1 and $20 for Google 2

    • Certification is good for two years 

    • Does this come out of PD funds or building funds?

    • Survey the buildings to see how much interest there is - Daniel and Audrey will take care of this

  • Meal Prices

    • Caleb and Laura discussed setting a dollar amount per day, instead of breaking it down into meals

    • Laura will talk to Caleb about this amount and report back 

    • Do we want to try to make this change this year or for next year? 

  • Summer BIST

    • Paid out about $6200 in stipends and those will come on September’s check

    • Check in with the people from your building who attended so that they can be reimbursed for their meals 

      • $1100 paid in meal reimbursement so far

    • $1800 for Nick (BIST) to present 

    • Reimbursement form and Evaluation must be completed 

  • New PDC Shirts

    • Do we want new shirts this year? Yes

    • This would come out of the supply lines

    • Send Kelly Jo color/design ideas and she will ask Jeremy Gochenour about cost

    • Daniel motioned to execute this plan and move forward with an inquiry. Heather seconded.

  • Be sure to fill this out before each PD meeting. Remind your building members of the timeline so that they remember to get their requests turned in.

Daniel motioned to approve the requests for September. Audrey seconded.
