Hello Marshall Public Schools Community:

Saturday evening a classified staff member of Marshall Public Schools was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Columbia after displaying symptoms of the flu.  Hospital personnel ran several tests, including one for COVID-19.  All test results have been negative but the one for the coronavirus will not be available until the middle of the week. This individual, and his family, are now in quarantine until test results are available.

As a preventative, proactive measure and using an overabundance of caution, Marshall Public Schools will not be in session Monday, March 16, 2020 and Tuesday, March 17, 2020.  We expect to be informed of the test results Tuesday and will then make the decision when to come back to school. We ask that you do not panic, but plan for the days away from school.  There will be no activities, practices, trips, etc. for students, teachers, and staff.

Currently, school is scheduled to resume Wednesday, March 18, 2020.  During this time, it is important to implement and practice good health measures and information is on the MPS website.  When the results of the coronavirus test are available, administration will communicate those to the school district and Marshall community.   Thank you for your support of our decision.  Dr. Carol Maher
