DECA NYC Trip

Four Saline County Career Center DECA members attended a DECA workshop, called "The New York Experience" from Nov. 30 to Dec. 4. The students are in an advanced marketing class and raised their own funds in order to go on the trip. During the workshop, students went on several tours of different fashion areas and industries in New York as well as several marketing-related publication outlets such as NBC Studios. Each workshop enabled students to learn different aspects of marketing, business, entrepreneurship, hospitality, and finance. For example, students received a lecture from a representative from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, followed by a behind the scenes look at the fashion industry with presentations from independent designers. Those who attended were able to experience one of the nation’s most popular entertainment venues and feel the holiday spirit of the Big Apple at the iconic Radio City Music Hall, see the city at the historic Empire State Building Observation Deck and walk down Times Square and decipher a frenzy of innovative marketing messages and more. Students who went on the trip include Jaedyn Borja, Gabriel Boatman, Holly Huston and Bailey Kueker, along with Saline County Career Center DECA Advisor Kerry Henley and FBLA advisor, Tracy Crumbaugh as a chaperone.
