MPS Board Member Jack Lenz was recently recognized at the December School Board Meeting by the Missouri School Boards Association and the Missouri Association of Rural Education. Mr. Lenz, 90, is believed to be the oldest active serving Board member in the state of Missouri.
MSBA Senior Director Linda Quinley, MPS Superintendent Caleb Petet, MPS School Board President Bryon Jacques, and members of his family helped present this honor to him.
We are proud to have Jack Lenz as one of our elected members of the Marshall Public Schools organization, and we congratulate him for this honor. He is an inspiration to so many Owls and a great representative of the Marshall community!

On November 13, Mrs. Kelly Jo Dobbins and Mr. Brett Clause took a group of Marshall High School students to Central Methodist University in Fayette, MO, to participate in Young Writer’s Day. Students participated in Poetry and Art, Poetry and Collage, Flash Fiction, and Worldbuilding sessions. First place winners received a $1000 scholarship and will be published in the next edition of Inscape, CMU’s literary publication. Central Methodist University will post all winners soon!

MPS is partnering with Katy Trail Community Health again this year to provide access to student dental services for interested families. The new "Katy Smiles on the Go" mobile dental unit will be visiting SPS & MIS on December 1st-5th, BMS from December 8th-12th, and MHS from December 15th-18th.
Children can receive preventative and restorative services such as cleanings, exams, sealants, fillings, and extractions from Katy Trail's dental team without having to be checked out of school or travel to an appointment. Interested MHS students enjoyed a beautiful day exploring the possibilities that Central Methodist University has to offer them after graduation. Students were able to hear from and ask questions from a panel of students and employees, tour the campus, eat lunch, and finished their day with a visit to the Ashby-Hodge Gallery of American Art.

Several MHS students were able to attend Conagra's Manufacturing Day and learn about the wide range of skilled positions available with its company. Students toured the plant, spoke with supervisors and HR, and were even able to sample all the different food produced in the Marshall facility. It was an awesome experience.

With over 30+ years of experience , Jeff was able to talk to the room full of interested students about what it takes to be successful in this industry. Students learned about safety, climbing, electric, the educational track options, got to try on some of his gear and check out his new drone!

Did you know that the University of Missouri invented homecoming?? We just happened to be able to tour MU during homecoming last week and get a little glimpse of the university as they were preparing for all the fun festivities. Mizzou also offers over 300 undergraduate degrees, 20 Division I sports teams, and over 600 student organizations.

Students were on the University of Central Missouri's campus for their Criminology/ Criminal Justice Career Exploration Day. These students were able to attend a career fair, participate in a crime scene demonstration activity, hear from a faculty and professional panel and enjoyed lunch on campus.

Last week our students visited State Fair Community College and toured both their technology and health science programs. Did you know that SFCC offers classes in Boonville, Jeff City, Lake of the Ozarks, Sedalia, Whiteman AFB, and online? They also offer residential life, dorms, sports teams, and the best part- they accept A+!

Rebecca shared with our students her 25 years of experience in the field giving them great insight to what skill sets are valuable and what training, education, and certifications are available and necessary.
